Palace Museum (Beit al-Sahel)
A short walk south along Mizingani Road: the white palace that housed the Omani sultans until the 1964 revolution, now a museum of royal furniture, portraits and household rooms. The seafront balcony views are part of the exhibit's charm.

Its tall double door keeps the heavy brass studded panels favored by the court - knock-pattern brass work like this was believed to deflect both evil spirits and hostile elbows.
