Hamamni Persian Baths
Zanzibar's first public baths, commissioned by Sultan Barghash in the style its Shiraz-born architect knew from Persia and completed around 1892. Cool stone chambers, steam rooms and shaving niches survive; separate days served men and women in its working years.

CARVED DOOR
The modest doorway hides the surprise - the carving is concentrated inside on the Changing Room niches. Zanzibar doors often saved their best carving for visitors, but the baths flipped the rule.
